  • Who uses this service?
Anyone who could use an extra set of hands and a friendly face! Seniors are the primary focus, though busy individuals, new parents, or people recovering from illness or injury need some help too. I work directly with folks that need the assistance, or it could be a friend or family member booking me to work with their loved one. I can also provide intermediate help when the regular helper needs a break, extra help, or is on vacation. Companies may also need help; please see the next FAQ for more information for companies.
  • Is there a booking minimum?
Yes, there is a one-hour booking minimum. Additional hours in the same visit are discounted.
  • What if I want to book you for more than an hour?
This would be great! If the additional hours are added on to the same visit, I have discounted the hourly rate. If the additional hours are for a different visit, the initial hourly rate applies. I can discount the additional hours for the same visit because the behind-the-scenes work and costs are already accounted for under the initial hour.
  • Can you take me to appointments or can we do an off-site activity?
We can do an off-site activity that we can walk to or hire a driver to take us to. Unfortunately, due to insurance requirements, I can’t have a passenger in my car for work-related purposes. This means I’m unable to drive you to appointments or drive us to an off-site activity.
  • Why are available appointments only in the early mornings, evenings, and weekends?
I work full-time during the week. If we plan ahead, I can take a day off of work from my day job so that I can work for you instead.
  • Can we customize a visit?
Definitely! Each visit is inherently customized/personalized since each person’s needs are different. If you are booking me for a loved one, I can help you curate a special time for them as well.
  • Can we do an activity that isn’t listed on the “services offered” page?
Yes! I can’t wait to hear what exciting thing you’d like to do. Please describe what you’re thinking in the comment box when you book my services.
  • How does the booking work if errands are part of the services needed?
I can run errands for you by either starting at the residence or starting at the first errand location. The booking time will begin at whichever place you’d like me to start (either your home or the errand location). For instance, if you want me to pick groceries up on the way to your house, I will start the appointment time when I get to the grocery store. You'll want to book a block of time that's long enough for me to complete all of the errands you want me to run. Keep in mind the time of day you're requesting this service. Errands occurring during rush hour will take longer than during non-rush hour times. If all of the errands can't get done within the timeframe you booked, our options are: We can book a second time block to complete the errands, You can add on more time to the current block if my schedule allows, or I can ask you to prioritize the list and I can do as much as possible in the booking time. I can run errands up to 25 miles with the errand add-on service. If you want me to go more than 25 miles, each additional mile will be charged the current IRS mileage rate to help with vehicle wear and tear and gasoline.
  • Can other companies hire you for jobs outside the companionship/helping hand realm?
Yes! I can serve short-term needs, especially if the company does not want to hire a W-2 employee for the job. I work full-time during the week, so the work would need to be able to be completed outside regular working hours. In addition, I would need to ensure it would not represent a conflict of interest with my regular employer before committing to the job. I want to be able to say yes if you need help, so please reach out and I will try my best to make it work.
  • What will cause you to end an appointment early?
Sexual harassment, aggressive, or hateful behavior won’t be tolerated and I will leave the booking early. I’m a professional seeking professional behavior in return. If I leave an appointment early for these behaviors, a refund will not be issued because the trip out was already made and the work was attempted to be performed.
  • Do you provide any medical services?
No, unfortunately I am not a trained medical professional. The activities I can provide don’t require any sort of professional licensing. Examples of what I can provide can be found on the services offered webpage.
  • Are you CPR and first aid certified?
Yes, and I am certified through January 19, 2027. Although I hope I never have to use this skill set, it’s good to have in case something goes wrong.
  • Do you have a clean background check?
Yes! I work in the government sector and need to be squeaky clean. I’ve also had multiple checks for various reasons throughout my life, each one coming back clean. I also have a great driving record.
  • Why should we hire you versus a bigger company?
A bigger company may fit your needs better depending on what your needs are, and they have some wonderful people that work for them. Sometimes folks don’t want to go with a big company because it’s less personal, you don’t get the same people each time, and they don’t always have the staffing to fulfill the appointments. If you choose to go with Dayna’s Senior Moments, it’s just me! And not only that, it’s my company and my reputation on the line. So, I want to do a good job for you, and I want to earn your trust. I love making people feel special and valued…while providing value! Service is tailored to fit each person’s specific needs, resulting in personalized care and genuine relationships.
